Hello friends, subscribers and artists, below are a few items that really didn’t merit individual posts, but since they all have interesting features I thought some of you may want to see them as good examples of my work. Some of these projects may inspire you artists out there who may be looking for a custom frame or may have considered taking fused glass classes by Kory Dollar of Marvelous Mosaic.
First in line is this very pretty frame for Jan Hutto of Portland, Oregon. She ordered this custom 30½” X 23½” oak frame to fit an existing window opening. Kory Dollar of Marvelous Mosaic will create a glass on glass mosaic over this. I have no doubt it will be spectacular. Jan is a glass artist guru for over half a century! I’ll bet you three hamburgers that she knows a thing or two about glass.🍔🍔🍔
These four frames are made from leftover scraps of glass and wood from a previous frame production run, ergo the oddball sizes. Two are 11" X 12" and two are 8" X 12" and made from pine. The wood was also the parts I normally cut away because of the knots. Well, much to my surprise, even though there are some rather gnarly knots in these, it seems that isn’t a bug, its a feature and are a favorite for some artists - idk.
TOP SECRET: This MAAAASSSSIVE frame is currently being covered with a mosaic of super-special glass by an unnamed artist in an undisclosed bunker for an anonymous client. This HUGE frame measures 48-1/2” across by 59-1/2” tall, made with 1/4” tempered glass and reclaimed teak. Stay tuned, the truth will be revealed soon. The results will take your breath away!
This fun little item is a fused glass Christmas Tree made by my Lovely Wife, Kathie. She worked on this at The Manor Studio in Deer Island where they have at least six kilns - the qwarmest place in town!. I made the “live edge” base from reclaimed walnut with a layer of clear-coat. It just so happened that we had a young couple move in across the street a couple weeks before Christmas, so I brought it over to them, introduced myself and gifted it to them. They were super-jazzed. 💖
That’s all for this post, I hope you found it enjoyable. The identity and images of the completed HUGE frame will be told to the world soon, and remember, if you see anything you like or if you are interested in something for yourself, you can use my email address here: dave@neotericwoodart.com
