Sometime back, the father of a young man passed away, leaving him heartbroken and confused. As a special needs boy, the devastation was even more concerning as he requires extra compassion as he can be overcome by the harsh world around him. I say all that to say this; his father, a veteran, was buried with full military honors, and at the funeral, his son, the nephew, was presented The Colors. This flag is now the only link that remains between him and his now departed dad. So, when I was asked to make a case for his flag… how could I not? In fact, I was quite honored! There are commercially made ones available, but they didn’t seem to have the same quality. His aunt, Rachel, asked that it be made of a dark, preferably hard wood such as walnut. Well, ask no more, I got you covered.

I did not have enough walnut of sufficient length to make this case, but I had a bunch of teak!

And yes… the boy was thrilled. I love happy endings :-)
