Oh, you didn’t listen and started reading anyway? Well now you’ve done it, you better say “Hi!” to Rosie, our little stray fur-ball who came to live with us one year ago. What is it about cats that make us go “AAAAAAAWWWWW”? That’s what we did when we learned this little girl was scared, under-fed and had obviously been through some tough times. We didn’t know her age exactly, but we were guessing right around 10 - 14 months. We also believe she may be part or all Maine Coon but doesn’t appear as if she will get much bigger. Time will tell.
Cats sure love to look down on everything. After noticing how she liked to try and squeeze her tiny butt onto the narrow window sill, I took a big slab of maple and made her this deep ledge to perch upon. Now that “tiny butt” ain’t so tiny after a year of eating and eating and eating! It is now one of her favorite places, it is warm, smooth and just the right size. Kinda like the lazy chair that MY oversized butt sinks into due to my eating and eating.
Yes, she is as sweet as she looks, maybe sweeter. She is very quiet, doesn’t jump up on countertops and uses “The Box” if she is unable to get outdoors. She also gives our old-timer cat Tom Servo a run for the money and loves, no BEGS to play “Catch-The-Laser-Dot.”
The backstory is, one day Kathie got a call from her sister Carol, who lives in Svenson, saying there was this kitten hanging around her place and it seems abandoned. She already has a cat and wondered if we would be interested. We had lost two cats not so long ago due to natural causes and were down to only one (yes, we are weird that way) so we did have to talk it over - for about as long as it takes to pop open a can of cat food!
… and before we knew it we were now housing, feeding and enjoying the wonderful company of two cats plus spending enough money to buy the veterinarian another three-week cruise to Costa Rica (no need to start writing that angry email, I know they earn it!).
So, aren’t you glad you didn’t just pass this opportunity by to meet Rosie? If you come for a visit, she would love it if you sat down long enough for her to jump up on your lap and have you pet her forever and ever… or until she falls asleep.
Thanks for stopping by to read about our sweetie, next post will be all about art, but in the meanwhile, Rosie has something to say:
“Pssstttt… hey you. Yes you… push a button!”
