Hello Everyone,
I know it has been a while since my last update (ergo the long post), but I’ve been extra busy making frames. I also added more music here but I don’t send email about that as my efforts still aren’t very polished, I mean with it all being created on this crusty yet trusty laptop. Anyway, here is what Neoteric/Dollar has been doing.
Posted below are various frames and the art they hold, and some filled with mirror. They are as varied as the artists themselves, each expressing the vision of the individual perspective. It is very gratifying to see artists, from all levels of accomplishment, pour their heart and energy into something I laid the foundation for. Many of these are from students where Kory helped light an inner creative fire, while simultaneously supplying the materials. She will explain to them something like a big plan, inspiring the imagination of the beginning artist. Some of them are already accomplished artists who commissioned me to build the frame to suit their needs. It lights MY fire when someone asks me to build a frame to suit their imagination. Give me a mosaic or fused glass in need of a frame and I’m on a roll!
The above “Undersea Garden” by Kory Dollar is highlighted on another post here.
But first, the one we’ve been waiting for;
GIGAFRAME!
Nearly one year ago, Kory started work on this giant 48.5” X 60.5” commission, and it turned out to be a major achievement!
Created for Oregon vintners named Laxon, this is a depiction of Mt. Denali in Alaska. Hope Wahl did a sketch, Kory had it enlarged to fit the frame and then, inch by inch, she made this real. I posted about making the frame out of reclaimed teak on a previous post, but here it is again - completed. Soon it will be on tour before installation.
Kathie did a lot of work on this too by filling some background, cleaning and grouting. I then built a portable stand that folds up so it can be taken on the road to the Artist Guild, starting April 28 and running through the weekend.
Below are custom frames, and below that are more frames and glass art that will be at the show where we all hope you will attend and, of course, vote for GIGAFRAME to win!
Miscellaneous
The Guild and Kory Dollar
Here are some live edge frames with fused glass on them. These will be on display as well as other mosaics by other artists (such as my Lovely Bride Kathie) and will be for sale at the Artesian Guild at the Portland Expo. Also pictured are frames in production and on the bottom corner is a fused glass piece I framed with Live Edge for Carlyne Lynch that looks like a waterfall.

Wow. You are on a roll, my friend.
You are on your way to becoming The Famous Frame Virtuoso! And to think I had a small part in all that. Someday they will be auctioning off my photos in those frames you made for me, for thousands of dollars. The auctioneer will say, "This photo is crap, but the frame was made by Dave Wise!"
I Love All of your pieces, absolutely stunning! Thank you Kathie for sharing! Can I go to the website to order one of these pieces?
