Hi Y’all,
I know, it’s been a long time since my last update, but I have an excuse, really! I mean, it’s not like I’m a lazy so-and-so, well actually, yeah I can be, but not this time.
I swear!
(I do a lot of that too, but don’t tell anyone) ψ(≧▽≦)ψ
What’s the web coming to?
Note: If you were looking for the pages of rage-click epistemological firestorms and finger-pointing with the accompanying knee-jerk histrionics hemorrhaging self-righteous poppycock to keep you distracted and fighting amongst others, well, I’m afraid you went sailing right past it.
You won’t find any of that here.
You’re welcome!
The opinions shared here are for articulating articles about art, artists, art shows, artifacts, occasionally Artie, but never artichokes. The web is full, it has the unwitting tilting at AI windmills in a blathersphere of palaver, confabulation and harangues.
I like to provide a little refuge here at Neoteric Island. Besides, my doctor said I need to consume less saturated flack and highly processed falderol and should have some mixed metaphors and whole-perspicacity with weltanschauung sauce.
Sure, I’ll get right on that. ✍(◔◡◔)
Now, to the art already!
My captivatingly charming wife Kathie made this “Autumn Harvest” mosaic on an old window. It sold in April, but the buyer couldn’t take it with her so we had mail it to Idaho where it will then be driven to Alaska and installed overlooking the property of their cabin in the wilderness. I ended up building a crate for it (see below).
Old cardboard can work as a great packing material if placed in the right spots. Shipping glass is dicey enough, but old glass is especially temperamental. It sounds simple enough, just build a box and mail it. Uh, no, The way packages get chucked around and driven over rough terrain not to mention being stacked underneath other stuff, a lot can go horribly wrong. In my estimation it is best to prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
I wish we had better pictures of this really cool mosaic, but I didn’t think of it until it was all packed - DOH!

Some cool things we’ve been up to.
Kathie sold another mosaic at a glass artist’s exhibition!
Kory Dollar of Marvelous Mosaic Fine Art sold the “Owl” mosaic with the burlwood frame I posted about here.
And my plans to start a greenhouse in May had to be delayed until June as I’ve been on the DL this month due to a minor medical issue, but I am now back on my feet!
And that is my excuse, but since the doc says I can resume normal activity now, that means going back to the gym. Oh boy!

The flower gardens Kathie does are very popular. The one on the left is what sold at the silent auction held at the glass artist’s show. That’s quite an honor, there was an actual bidding war for it!
Kory received “Most Innovative” artwork at the museum where it was displayed. The combination of her owl and the burlwood frame was the probable reason.
This is a shorter than usual post, but I haven’t done much whilst I was laid up. I now have to make up for lost production and there is a HUGE line of people wanting me to get to their projects!
That, of course, is a nice ‘problem’ to have.
Thank you all for not giving up on me. I’m like that nuisance shrub you’ve tried to get rid of. You know the one, you prune it down to a nub but it just comes back bigger and more hostile than ever? Yep, that’s me.
Type at you soon. (´◡`)
Some of the glass enclosures I’ve made.

Starting from top left, each link below will take you to a page describing in detail the story of the glass homes pictured.
Another very interesting article under your belt! The pictures of my artwork are beautifully done and make me look like a “real” artist. 😘
So beautiful! Thank you, Kathy, for making them. You are such a gifted artist. JOY! That's my heart when I look at your work. Sigh....I love glass.
Thank you, Dave, for showing them to us. Amazing what the light does. It changes everything.
Your ingenious crating is vital. I'll say a prayer for the journey.
I really enjoyed your writing as well. That crazy German word. The "W" one. Looked it up. Love that German one-word-for-a-really-complex-thought-stuff. God Bless.
