Hello Visitor,
Neoteric Wood Art is a concept about art and functional items made from wood, glass, and discarded relics with an emphasis on minimal material use and optimal aesthetics. I write silly story’s on how I took a departure from the straight-ahead world of art and the modern trends of bland, insipid architecture and share with all my attempt to take engineering to a new level with the copious use of passive-solar capture and structural integrity.
The best way forward in keeping our little blue marble habitable without a global nanny-state is through free-market environmental conservation and stewardship. Prosperity, liberty and healthy ecosystems are not mutually exclusive.
I have a small woodshop in the Pacific Northwest where I make my living mainly as a woodworking artist, though you will sometimes find me restoring old homes and cars. I am fortunate to have several close friends and colleagues that make up a small group of artisans, each highly skilled and intimately involved in their craft. We derive great satisfaction from applying personal expression into our medium of choice.
Most popular among them is the Glass on Glass (GoG) mosaic crowd. For them I build frames for their mosaics (substrates) that will be used to mosaic upon. At times I may create a frame or a stand for an already existing work. There are MANY different styles and types of glass art, including fused and melt glass where ordinary things are transformed into crazy new items in high temperature kilns. All the links are either on the side panels here or posted below.
I still have my (lame) website at www.neotericwoodart.com and keep a marketing toe-hold on Meta, but Substack is my “home”. Below are also links to some Greenhouse/Studio projects. You will also get to know the interesting world of Kory Dollar of Marvelous Mosaic and the Dollar/Wise conspiracy.
